Chelsea Massachusetts School District Case Study

Download Description

As the COVID-19 pandemic intensified in 2021, the city of Chelsea, Massachusetts, became one of the most disproportionally affected communities in the state. With infection rates up to seven times higher than in other cities, Chelsea needed to take additional precautions to stop the spread. The school year began remotely in September; however, there was light at the end of the tunnel with the opening of a small group of remote learning centers providing relief to parents who now feel confident sending their children to a safe place to learn. The school district had implemented thorough COVID PPE procedures but still required additional measures to protect their at-risk community. Shortly before the school year began, Chelsea School ISD Director Joe Cooney reached out to Sanalife and connected with our knowledgeable air quality specialist, Khristin to design a solution for the school system and offices. Khristin worked with Director Cooney to build a customized site assessment and solution for over 10 school buildings. Based on his requirements, they decided to choose our most versatile passive and active air purification system, perfect for classroom safety. Using a combination of HEPA filtration, photocatalytic UV-C light, negative ionization, and ActivePure® Technology, Chelsea’s learning environments are now protected from mold, bacteria, viruses, VOCs.
